Goal

Server-farm in which servers auto-optimize their energy comsuption and use only sustainable energy.

Abstraction of the problematic

• growing needs of energy in general
  • growing needs of energy for data center
• diminution of available resources

How do you cope with this situation ?

In situ example

A new Internet company want to maximize efficiency of its servers in order to avoid any bottleneck regarding a growing amount of clients but higher prices of energy supplies.

Proposed solutions

• existing commercial solutions
  • Intel Dynamic Power Datacenter Manager
  • IBM "Green IT"
  • delegate all computations and the subsequent energy management with cloud computing solutions (cf article on cloud computing)
